There is some possibility the last half of this game may be streamed online, on Port Melbournes Youtube channel Borough TV, with a full reply available during the week.

Werribee tend not to have too many travelling supporters, but this game should be a good one, with better weather forecast for the weekend. Both teams would rightly expect they can take away the four points.

With the Borough blowing out the cobwebs and posting a good win after a narrow lead late in the game against the Blues, I'd expect Port to come away with the win.

Whats the go with Schipione ? Is he still injured ? Their will be a bigger crowd than last week and hopefully the burgers taste just as good. The burgers taste better than hungry jacks!

Scipione really didn't have a pre-season as such, so the club is just getting him some game time. He'll be back soon enough. With Haretuku and Lisle to feed off as well as find his own footy, Scipcione will be invaluable once he's back in the side.

btw. Looks like webcast might be held off for a fortnight. A few issues to iron out!

Webcasts sound like a great idea even though I don't have decent internet to watch it myself!

Yes unfortunately it won't be ready this week.

At quarter time in the twos, Port are off to a good start, about 4 goals up.

Windy conditions could make for an ugly game this afternoon.

YOU could be forgiven for taking a second glance at Werribee’s best players on Saturday.

The consistent Scott Sherlock was again influential, while North Melbourne-listed Daniel Currie and Majak Daw played key roles.

But a pair of unfamiliar names — Billy Iles and James Hussey — spearheaded the Tigers’ stirring 12-point VFL victory over Port Melbourne, the first time the club has won at North Port Oval in a decade.

Iles, making just his sixth appearance in the seniors, bagged six majors, while debutant Hussey blanketed Port playmaker Chris Cain.

Werribee is carrying a long injury list, but this has allowed coach John Lamont to unearth some fresh talent.

“Hussey’s effort, I won’t go as far to say it was unexpected, but we were very, very pleased and not surprised with his output,” Lamont said.

“Billy Iles has played all our practice matches and the first three games in the seniors. To produce six in a tough game probably exceeded expectations.

“He’s been a contributor in the first rounds and we needed him to get on the scoreboard.”

Few pundits would have given the inexperienced Tigers a chance away from home.

But they punched some holes in Port’s armour early, sprinting to a 20-point lead at quarter-time.

That advantage was reduced to 10 at the main break before a determined Werribee logged five goals to two in the third to extend the margin to four goals.

Port, as expected, kept coming and drew within five points late in the contest.

But the Tigers, against all the odds, held firm for a memorable triumph, 15.10 (100) to 12.16 (88).

“Apart from about a 12-minute period in the second quarter where we didn’t quite respond well to the challenge the opposition threw at us, it was a pleasing effort,” Lamont said.

“I’m really happy with them. Plenty of things to work on, though, but we showed a bit of character.

“It’s a unique ground, Port Melbourne. You’ve got play it right. We scored when we needed to and arrested their momentum.”

Lamont said the victory meant more than just a standard home-and-away win.

“It’s only four points, but on the back of a North Ballarat come-from-behind win, I think it’s a significant win for our players’ group,” he said.

“They know the likes of (Tom) Gribble, (Jye) Bolton and the skipper (Michael Sodomaco) are out of the team. With an eye to the future, we’d like to think if we can keep our luck now and not have any more injuries and have some good luck, then you’ve got those players returning and there’s pressure for spots.”

The Tigers next face Box Hill on Sunday.

Just like last season - accurate kicking appears to be a problem. I think the side with its high turnover is still building and will probably not perform to its full potential until mid season. I'd like to be proven wrong but I think we will go down this weekend and then win the next three.
