That's a average of 53 k which is pretty impressive considering that 50 k would of been a average finals rating last year. Hopefully this increase in popularity can translate to more people through the gates.

Actually, it's interesting to not that not only are the two highest viewing figures so far of games between AFL reserves, but they are also the only two Sunday games covered.

I've always said Sunday on TV is better for the VFA/VFA, therefore you're not competing with suburban footy.

Bring back the catch cries of Sunday, Sunday Sunday for the VFA or even sweet VFA.
Looks like you are right on the money Brekky.

Many that are involved at suburban/ local footy would be lazing around on Sunday and doing nothing. Very easy to turn on to Ch7 and watch a game, after all there would be quite a few that would be watching the afl game on ch7 afterwards and it is a matter of an earlier start to the day.

Not quite the old days with the iconic World of Sport, World Championship Wrestling and VFA Football on a Sunday.

The Sunday games are ideal. Good observation brekky.
Saturday morning tends to be a busier family day in my experience and Sunday more of a lazy day which lends itself to people having a sleep in and popping the TV on when they get up.

A shame that we can't get to games a week as I'm sure Sunday would out-rate Saturdays.

Agree - they should always be Sunday, it fits in perfectly at 11.30 between Gameday and the AFL match on Channel 7. And they can play the development league afterwards at 2.30.

If they get a good advertising return this season hopefully they'll be able to do both next year. The Essendon v Richmond game got 46K this weekend, which is another solid result. As a comparison, the AFL game that followed got 136K.

Yeah it did. Above confirms 37k. The average is 51 k which was like a finals rating figure on the abc. The increased viewing can only be healthy for the league. One wonders though when the afl reserves league recommences which comp will get the coverage. The afl ressies or the vfa.
