Channel 7 and finals footy.

Haven't heard anything, but with weeks 2,3 and 4 of the AFL finals series being all night matches (well the last few years anyway), will we see the VFL finals series moved to a 2pm starting time on Saturday and Sunday?

I'm hoping so, but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

You would think so.

The only thing you can be sure of is that the games will be played at times that suit Channel 7.

Ratings have been very solid this season on Channel 7. Primetime 2pm games on those finals weeks, should be the biggest ratings the VFA/VFL has had since the early 80s, when players like Fred Cook were creating huge interest for the competition. Depending on which teams finish in the eight, I'd think that the Seven network would be very pleased with how the season has gone for them.

I can't understand the logic behind playing games at midday SAT when Ch7 have no game to follow, if they played at 2pm or even 3pm if playing at a ground with good lighting, that would then run into their precious 6pm news

I'm not sure that lighting is the issue, but if it was, only a few VFL grounds (Geelong, casey, Werribee?) have lights that are footy standard.

That was just a thought, but none of those clubs are likely to get a home final. 2pm is a much better start time for both spectators & viewers. Do TV stations think that people aren't capable of picking up a TV guide n reading the start time if they were to move from 12noon on SAT?

Doesn't even need to be live (like the AFL Saturday arvo matches).

Just start the game at 2.10pm and show it on delay on seven at 3pm.

yep, good suggestion, they just love people watching on the lead up to the news at 6pm
