(Practice Match) Werribee Vs Boxhill
Body:
Please understand that i wrote this for a werribee board on thebulldogsbarking so its manily about werribee. Well today i headed down to the Whitten oval to see the might boys Werribee play, joined by Mighty West, we sat of to watch what turned out to be a pretty fair game of football with out known who had won the game due to a lack of a scoreboard. The boys from Werribee started strong and gun recruit Jarrod Garth kicked a nice goal to get the game under the way, but then came the buddy Franklin show, he was just that step above the rest, his pace and skill for a big man had me shocked i must say. At the other end of the field James Podisadly was on fire marking every thing that came his way, all tho at times early he was kicking like Jade Rawlings he worked through it to star for the boys from Werribee. It really does shock me how this guy, who would be in most sides top 18 is only playing VFL. Moving on from my man Pods, you could tell that Brett Montgomery was just a class above, his on field leadership was great from what i could and he really did some wonderfull things up the ground away from the back pocket he was known to love at the power. The person who stood out to me would have to have been Wayde Twomey, he just never gives in and is a great hard worker. Well Werribee have lost the Bulldogs players of the likes of Bandy, Bowden, Rawlings and Harrison, but have picked up some good young players such as up coming ruckman Will Richardson (may be the wrong name, as im sure it was no 16 but there was no number 16 listed in my run down of players. Jordan Barham is another who i like the look of, he has good speed across the field and did some great 2nd and 3rd efforts. Travis Baird was a bit of a let down, he is no where near 193cm but he does have a good turn of speed, that being said i think the Bulldogs will rou the day they didnt draft Pods. Jim Allan was tough as tails as he always is, but the Box Hill side was a very good one lead by Franklin, Gilham had a poor game and was tought a football lesson by Podisadly. All in all Werribee looked pretty good today, with a lot more Bulldogs players set to come back, but Mr Atkins "dont get use to seeing Monty around as he wont be at Werribee this season". A 15 point win was handy, and should help along the way this year. Please Note that Davidson did not play, same with Jesse Wells. From a Bulldogs point of view, Farren Ray got plenty of the ball, worked pretty hard around the ground, as mentioned, Travis Baird seemed a little lost at CHF, but kicked 1 nice goal, has plenty of pace to burn. Damian McCormack didn't seem to have a big impact but the shining light today from a Dogs point of view was most definatly the number 43, Brett Montgomery, just looked a class above, looked quite sharp as well considering his interupted pre-season, will definatly be considered for round 1 against the Tigers, kicked a nice goal in the first quarter, but spent most of the game running off half back.
