Bit of genius programming from AFL Victoria on the weekend sees the Dolphins seniors play at Geelong in a 1pm game, with their reserves playing at Werribee at 3.50pm. Yes, AFL Victoria have allowed Frankston's staff five minutes to get from Skilled Stadium to Werribee. So I ask, does anybody have a teleporter machine handy? Or a chopper?
Hook and Schwab may not realise, but clubs aren't loaded with mass numbers of staff and volunteers, and those who do work for clubs generally assist with both the senior and reserves teams.
AFL Victoria have shown an element of common sense by scheduling Frankston to play the Geelong and Werribee double, but they've shown none in the allocation of start times. I'm not sure Mr Schwab and Mr Hook know how long it takes to get from Point A to Point B. Perhaps they should get onto Google Maps, or even better go to some games and see for themselves.
I feel for the Frankston staff who will be under the pump on Saturday, all because AFL Victoria won't adjust the start times slightly.
Not that it matters, but does anybody know why the reserves start at 3.50pm anyway? The seniors begins at 7pm...there's no need to have such a rediculously long gap between the end of the 2s and the start of the 1's is there? Same games this year have had 40 minutes between matches!!
