Interesting that it was Club captains. Its encouraging to see the playing group involved in the decision making, but also surprising that club CEOs or Presidents weren't involved.
I did hear that rumour. Even better if they scrapped that under 23 rule completely. I suppose slashing it in half and a bigger salary cap does help quite a bit which is a start.
True VFA, you would expect that clubs won't have too much trouble fielding 3 players every week who are good enough to make the grade. Even without the rules most clubs would field 3 players under 22 anyway.
On a side note, got the Collingwood v Blues match on and surprised that despite the huge push to hype up this game theirs barely any people.

There were apparently 4100 at Princes Park tonight and that is about what you would expect.
The AFLW crowds have dropped off a lot since the novelty of free entry in the first few seasons.
The test will be if that can get 15,000 plus to Marvel for the game taken from Port Melbourne.
But we kept getting told all the time how good women's footy is and how it improves so much every year - is that not true? I didn't bother watching it so I couldn't comment - i waited until the Front Bar started before i tuned into Ch 7
Lets face it is still a third rate comp with very poor skills on display and they struggle to score on big sized footy grounds!
At least half the crowd last night were also most likely free as the AFL members get 10 free passes to the AFLW matches.
It is a bit like the BBL - started with a rush of excitement and publicity and has gone down hill ever since because the standard dropped right away playing second rate cricketers no one had heard of!
ALL the female football comps in Australia get piss poor crowds to their H & A matches and the soccer only get a decent crowd to their women's game when the national team is playing.
I also doubt that Ch 7 will broadcast it on their main channel in prime time very often.

* It's time to restore the VFA name.

Glad to hear it will be increased. Hopefully by a reasonable amount.

easons.
Agree Mega,
Watched the first five minutes of that game & if they continue to dish up that rubbish they call football there will be no one there.
When were the rules changed ?
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Have a read of this and see how it stacks up to what you witnessed last night

I watched three quarters of the Adelaide-Melbourne game last night - must admit it wasn't too bad except for the lack of scoring
