Might have to move it to a smaller ground to save embarrassment

that was in the depths of the Great Depression - maybe people couldn't afford to travel to the ground let alone buy an entrance ticket to the game

I'm hoping for an all QLD GF just to show how ill named the VICTORIAN Football League is but I suspect the Melbourne seconds will be too strong at the Cranbourne shithole for Brisbane seconds esp as crap weather is forecast as well!

This made up bastard of a comp is getting way less people to the finals than many local leagues do and is a joke!

What chances a change of name for the comp if it was an all-QLD GF? I've noticed a bit of carping from the banana-benders about it being called the VFL even though they knew full well the name of the comp when they joined it

"Ironically, the 1934 Grand Final was played at neither Olympic Park, nor any of the suburban grounds. The match was originally scheduled for Olympic Park on 29 September, but was postponed due to inclement weather; however, Olympic Park was unavailable on the following Saturday afternoon. The Association made a request to the VFL to play its Grand Final as a curtain raiser to the VFL Firsts Preliminary Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, but the League Seconds were not prepared to move to another venue,

The Showgrounds were used for the one and only time. The Showgrounds Arena was not usually used for football, and arrangements were decidedly makeshift: short goalposts, a faintly-marked boundary line, and inadequate dressing rooms.

Due to the remoteness of the location, and yet more very inclement weather on the rescheduled day, an extremely meagre crowd of only 2,300 attended the match.Wikki"

In the modern era the 1995 Sandy v Springvale GF crowd at Victoria park of 6445 was the lowest.

The VFA was all set to play night matches at the Showgrounds in the early 1950's, years before the VFL started playing games under lights, until a few nervous delegates pulled the plug on the idea only for it to be revived later in the decade but by then the horse had bolted
