Congratulations Robbo, I was at the game yesterday,  tried calling you to congratulate you on another great win but couldn't get through.

Preston unfortunately we're never in the game and looked somewhat indecisive and panicked when going inside 50. Think they deserve more than a single win, they aren't that far off the mark.

Agreed MegaA, they just lacked that moment of composure on the first touch.....credit to our boys though who as usual made Skybus seem very small at times with their harassment. Hopefully Preston keep making advancements and hang on to their players for next season as they certainly have some talent out there.

That's one that Port will really rue today.. We won more than enough of the footy, but didn't make the most of our opportunities yet again.

The forward line was weakened when Archie Manton went down in the first quarter.  I felt that we were just a fraction fumbly resulting in pressure being brought on. (or vice versa). Fletcher Roberts had his work cut out, consistently competing in 1v2 contests.

Missing Hunter was a blow pregame as he really plays an important role around the ground and not just in the ruck.

I thought we may have got a better crowd today, but perhaps the early start and poor weather played its part.

For the Borough, next week's game against Sandringham will be another tough ask, but is still very winnable, especially if we can get talls back in the mix.

All in all its been a frustrating season for the Port faithful!

How far off are we do you think David ? I was talking with John Baird and saying I think we are probably 4 top quality vfl players off being a good side, the midfield is very strong. I think we are probably looking at a couple of quality backmen and forwards from being a finals contenders. Obviously the challenge is also retaining the players who are making a impact, as we know the end of season exodus can be extensive.

Crowd was slightly low I agree, this seems to be across board in the vfl. 3wbc was talking about the crowds on their Monday night show and they were saying that it's pretty much all clubs except for Frankston- even Frankston can be deceiving as they all stand in the same small area which gives the illusion that they have a big crowd - having said that, they are doing ok there but not significantly greater than other clubs (I went to both their and our game on the weekend and they probably only marginally had a bigger crowd than us).

I got to a Frankston game in June, on a very cold night, and there was 1500-2000 people there. A decade ago that was a great Sunday arvo crowd early in the season. It's extraordinary the crowds they are getting through the gates with night footy.

That said, crowds across all sports are down, hopefully that will change but the amount of fear pumped into people, and the forced change of lifestyles in Victoria in particular have had an impact.
