Well at least the St Kilda seconds cannot get done this weekend!
Sadly apart from Southport the top eight looks like it will end up all being AFL seconds teams inc Brisbane,Sydney and GC so much for it being the "VFL"= very boring and I wont be watching!
It looks like the four interstate teams have replaced the usual Victorian stand alone teams in the finals.
If no vfa teams in finals I hope Southport win. Won't be watching if it's between afl teams.
I don't like Southport's chances as they seem not up the Victorian seconds sides esp in Melbourne.
On Current form the undefeated Melbourne seconds will win the premiership.
can't believe we knocked off fourth-placed Carlton when we were 20th on the ladder - where has that form been all year?
Ugly game for the Port Melbourne faithful.
Firstly, the game was fixtured to start at 9.05am..about as early as an under 12s game and played in front of less people.
Then the Gold Coast absolutely blew us away in the first 10 minutes and the result was decided by quarter time.
The Borough squanded the chances we had and then we fell right away in the last term.
For 150 games notched up on the day for Tom O'Sullivan, and 50 for Campbell Walker it must have been even more disheartening.
TOS wasn't even afforded the acknowledgement of being chaired off the ground.
The top 8 looks like it will be tricky to find a team to support. I agree with you VFA, perhaps Southport is the side to get behind. Casey don't have a shred of identity anymore and Box Hill aren't much better.
Let's hope we see some adjustments in the off-season to allow standalone clubs to be more competitive.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Yes looks like I'll go for Southport in the finals unless werribee sneaks in somehow which is highly unlikely.
Can this "VFL" competition become any more of a shambles ?
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Yes it can with the VFL not knowing where the final will be played and questions about date and venue answered in a politician type manner of "we still have several things to work through and consider before we make any decision" - that's another way of saying we don't have a friggin clue.
Such a ad-hoc competition but for fans of the stand alone clubs that's all we have, it's take it or leave it.
