Next week will be Casey v swans, Brisbane v Southport top 4 settled. If Carlton wins tomorrow will be box hill v carlton, gold coast v Collingwood meaning two of the four finals interstate. If Collingwood wins will be Collingwood v Richmond and box hill v gold coast. I think Carlton will scrape in. Hope Southport go all the way. Frankston did a great job at punt road unfortunately did not get the 4 points. Three of the games today were 100 plus maulings with Footscray v giants 106, werribee v Preston 116, Southport v coburg 181 points.

Wow......two one kick losses in a row, yet such different efforts and differing emotions. After the insipid cave-in against Port, the boys really dug in yesterday and were courageous right to the end. I don't wanna sound like Digger and harp on about umpiring, but I was pretty appalled at decisions made or not made in the last couple of minutes of the game. I swear when it comes to crucial moments, the umps sub-consciously favor the AFL clubs. Reminds me of the old days watching BigV basketball when Frankston Blues couldn't get a call against Melbourne Tigers.

The worst part of yesterday was definitely seeing Preston's result. What on earth has gone wrong down there?

I went there to have a look AJ - 2nd rate, couldn't win a contest but the biggest hurting point i could see is that Werribee found so much room and the ball found its way to uncontested Werribee marking time and time again throughout the game. Preston looked really slow - was worse than a reserves v seniors match, one goal was scored with 3 kicks from one end of the ground to the other within about 15 seconds.  At times they had so much room you would have thought Werribee was playing with 25 players. Felt a lot of sympathy for Preston, it wasn't pleasant and good on the lads for trying.

Another unpleasant thing was the crowd, despite it being free entry and a nice day I think they only attracted around 400 people.

Back to a earlier post - Comeng or anybody else in the know - that new development at Port looked exceptional, big function centre, new gym, new admin facilities etc anybody know why it was cancelled ?

WHO CARES? I won't waste my time watching any of the so called VFL finals!

It is now what the AFL has wanted all along an almost full blown AFL Reserve Comp!

Another season over for the VFA/VFL.  Yes it's hard to have any real excitement for the finals series.   Southport are probably the team I would like to have the ultimate success this year.

For Port.. It was a disappointing way to finish off the season.  I'll post my thoughts on where we are at separately.

Re the development that didn't happen.  I believe the issue was the contaminated soil in that corner of the ground.  It was particularly contaminated.

The whole ground must be contaminated as it was also found contaminated where the function centre was moved to (which was one of the main reasons for the delay in finishing the project).
