FORMER NRL superstar Israel Folau’s first game of Aussie rules in Victoria will be against the Northern Bullants in the AFL’s new Champions League this year.

Leader can reveal Folau’s Greater Western Sydney Giants will meet Carlton’s VFL affiliate in Round 1 of the knockout competition on Saturday, April 30, at the MCG.

The twilight match, which will be broadcast on Foxtel, is a curtain-raiser to Richmond’s Round 6 encounter against the Brisbane Lions.

The Bullants, runners-up in the VFL for the past two seasons, are one of three Victorian clubs invited into the Champions League along with triple-premier North Ballarat and Williamstown.
