The Herald Sun VFL season preview
Body:
Average effort, regardless of whether the Herald Sun did it off their own bat or AFL Victoria paid for it to go in there. A huge photo of Sandringham after the Grand Final win, plus photos of Cloke and Koulouriotis (in their AFL club jumpers) almost seem to be fillers cos they didnt have enough content to fill two pages. Surely it would have been better replaced with a fixture for the entire 2007 VFL season which (hopefully) people might cut out and stick on the fridge. Or a free entry coupon that fans could use to any match this season. As for the level of detail about player arrivals - well apparently Sandringham have none and only one departure. Yeah right!!! Five blank lines appear underneath. In fact most of the team boxes have a number of blank lines underneath them. Surely they could've been filled with something!!!! It looks like a VCE 3000 word school project which the student has only done 2000 words for. Bare!!! Half the article on the left hand side simply repeats the arrivals and departures which are covered elsewhere in the feature. How about profiling some players, covering a few interesting stories about coaches and players in the competition? There's also no mention that VFL games are on ABC TV every week (assuming everybody knows but how about giving them a plug anyway!). I probably said much the same stuff last year, but if the VFL are going to use the same design and standard as their 2006 season preview, then I reckon I can get away with repeating myself again too.
