That is my understanding of the situation, NorthPort
It will rub salt into the wound if Ben gets a run in R1 and (pardon the pun) earns his red and blue stripes by playing a blinder.
yes indeed it will, might be more than a few pairs of eyes glaring at the coaches box if that was to happen.
for those that don't know, this game will be played on Saturday night under the new lights currently being installed at the ground.
Borough Welcome Goal Kicking Ace Jake Gasper
Port Melbourne have kicked off the 2019 new year on the same positive note that they left off, with the signing of the TAC Cup’s leading goal kicker from season 2018, Jake Gasper.
Gasper joins the Borough from the Oakleigh Chargers, and helps continue the success of the formal alignment between the two clubs.
Highly unlucky not to be drafted to AFL level over the past few months, Gasper’s reputation as a naturally damaging forward was best reflected by him leading all comers in the country’s premier underage competition with 42 majors.
Football Manager Glenn Balmforth said Gasper had already impressed on the training track since joining the group just before the Christmas break.
“For such a young player, Jake’s shown a great amount of silk, skill and footy smarts in all of our drills and match simulation work so far,” he said.
“For the club to be able to secure the TAC Cup’s most recent leading goal kicker, it’s a great result and we certainly think Jake will add a lot to our forward line group.”
The Borough welcome Jake to the club, and wish him all the best of luck!

Great pick up however with several strong forwards already on the books and a defence which has been been damaged in the off season, i wonder if getting another forward is the best option for the club. Not many spots left on the list and I can't see us making the 8 if we don't pick up any quality defenders.
Past history says I have been pretty good at my pre seaon Port predictions - but happy to be wrong on this occasion.

THE VFLS MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB - THE MIGHTY PORT MELBOURNE BOROUGH!
I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN, I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED, I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!
A first in 2019 for Port Melbourne with Co-Captains being announced.
Jordan Lisle continues on, while Tommy O'Sullivan joins him with the (C) in the footy record!
I was surprised that the club went down this path. I wonder the thinking behind it, all I can think of is that they wanted to share the responsibility but that also could be done with one Capt and a vice captain.
Port Melbourne has now finalized its list. I wonder how the Port and vfl fans rate the off season recruiting. Are fans satisfied? Would they have done anything differently?
