Last season’s winners
WEEKLY WINNERS in 2018
Round 1 DON QUAYLE $30 Don Quayle has struck in the opening round picking all six winners therefore collecting the weekly $30 prize. Don is a previous winner of the VFL tipping comp in 2009. Was also placed in 2002. Another $30 will go to the tipster that picks all seven winners for Round 2. If more than one tipster selects seven winners the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Werribee v Casey game under lights. If no tipster picks seven the weekly prize will jackpot to Round 3.
Round 2 Cameron Towson $30 There was only 3 tipsters that managed to pick all seven winners. Port diehard Cameron Towson and zebra pair in Phil ‘Yobbo’ Clarke and Greg Stephens. Cameron Towson picked 149 for the aggregate score in the Werribee v Casey clash. Phil Clarke picked 167 whereas Greg Stephens picked 170. In a low scoring game Werribee 55 to Casey 71 (aggregate score) was 126 points. Cameron being closest to the aggregate score collects the weekly prize of $30. Another $30 will go to the tipster that picks all seven winners for Round 3. If more than one tipster selects seven winners the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Collingwood v Essendon game. If no tipster picks seven the weekly prize will jackpot to Round 4.
Round 3 NO TIPSTERS PICK SEVEN WINNERS There was no tipster that selected all seven winners for this round largely due Frankston having a very rare away win in defeating North Melbourne. The dolphins were on fire booting 20 goals. The other big upset was Werribee’s first win as a standalone team defeating Williamstown by 41 points. Werribee are stand alone for the first time since 1999. In other games Geelong won a dour struggle beat Footscray by 19 points. Richmond had a comfortable 35 win over Casey Demons. Port Melbourne made it back to back wins in a hard fought 10 away win against Sandringham. Coburg were no match for the visiting Box Hill and went down by 12 goals. In the televised game Collingwood were 28 point winners over Essendon. The weekly jackpot went up to $60 for Round 4.
Round 4 IAN GEE $60 IAN GEE WINS WEELY JACKPOT There were 5 tipsters that managed to pick five winners. This is mainly due to Geelong beating Casey at Casey Fields by 22 points. In other games Port Melbourne made it 3 on the trot recording a strong 44 point win which could have been by a much bigger margin as the borough had 19 more scoring shots. North Melbourne won at Coburg by 52 points. Ironically North Melbourne played at the Coburg ground in the then VFL comp. In the 1965 season Coburg played home games at Port Melbourne. The shinboners returned to Arden Street in 1966 while Coburg returned back home. Williamstown thrashed Coburg by 88 points while in the televised game Richmond were 38 point winners at Werribee. Alistair 138 points, Chris Douglas 213, Greg Stephens 170, Ian Gee 196 and Rob Henderson 168 points were the tipsters with 5 winners aggregate score for the televised game. Ian Gee with 196 points was nearest to the 198 points (Werribee v Richmond) clash. Ian ‘Stringer’ Gee an avid Geelong West fan back in the Joe Radojevic era wins $60.
Round 5 ALISTAIR HAYES $30 ALISTAIR PIPS IAN GEE IN WEEKLY PRIZE Only two tipsters managed to select all six winners. Ian Gee continued his great tipping from the previous round with another great round. Alistair Hayes was also on target with six winners. Alistair selected 125 points for the aggregate score in the Frankston v Northern Blues clash were Ian Gee picked 233. Frankston 8.8.56 were no match for the Northern Blues 16.14.110. The aggregate score was 166 points were Alistair was closer than Ian Gee therefore collects $30. In other games Essendon thrashed North Melbourne by 66points and made the kangaroos look second rate. Box Hill continued their great start to the season with an emphatic 64 point win. Collingwood were 63 point winners at Werribee. Williamstown came away with a 33 point win at Coburg. An accurate Footscray 11.5.71 beat a very inaccurate Richmond 9.16.70. The dogs had 9 less scoring shots but snuck in by a point.
Round 6 BOBBY BOROUGH $30 BOBBY BOROUGH WINS WEEKLY PRIZE Long-time Port Melbourne fan Bobby Borough was one of 4 tipsters to pick seven winners in Round six. Sarah selected 97, Rockford 189, Adam Moffat 171 with Bobby Borough picking 164 for the Port Melbourne (102) v Footscray (69) televised game. Bobby was nearest the aggregate score to snag the $30 weekly prize. Port Melbourne had to wait for this round to unfurl the flag and did not let their supporters down with a strong 33 point win. Williamstown were far too good for the Northern Blues recording a 43 point win. Richmond crushed North Melbourne by 88 points at Etihad Stadium in a time slot played that would be fit for an under 8s game. The game was supposed to be played at 9.15am but shifted to 9.45am. It was also farcical that the last quarter was cut very short. Lucky it was a one horse race. Collingwood came from behind to upstage Geelong by 4 points. Box Hill tasted defeat for the first time for 2018 losing at Casey Fields by 39 points. Frankston had their second win for the season and first at home beating Coburg by 49 points. Sandringham lost to the visiting Essendon by 21 points.
Round 7 ADAM MOFFAT $30 SHINBONER ADAM MOFFAT PICKS SEVEN and WEEKLY JACKPOT North Melbourne supporter Adam Moffat can thank his shinboners for picking all winners for the round. North Melbourne upset last season’s premiers in Port Melbourne by 8 points at North Port Oval. In a low scoring affair North snuck home. It was the first meeting between a Port Melbourne v North Melbourne game since 1924. That was way back in the VFA days before the kangaroos then left the VFA and joined the VFL in 1925. Adam Moffat and his partner in crime Hams another shinbone were the only tipsters good enough to snare all the seven winners for the round. Adam 171 pipped Hames 178 in nearest to the aggregate score. Essendon were far too good for visiting Geelong scoring a comfortable 49 point win, Frankston locked as paltry 4.9.33 to be thrashed by Casey at home by 106 points. Box Hill had an easy time recording a 38 point home win against the Northern Blues. Richmond beat Sandringham by 65 points at Holm Reserve Beaconsfield. Coburg fought valiantly to lose by 25 points against Collingwood and a much improved effort.
Round 8 NO TIPSTERS PICK SEVEN WINNERS No tipsters managed to pick seven winners therefore the weekly jackpot will be $60 for Round 9. North Melbourne continued their giant killing form accounting for Box Hill by 36 points in an impressive display. Sandringham were in control recording a 51 point win over Werribee. Essendon thrashed Northern Blues winning by 73 points. Collingwood like their AFL team came from behind to score a convincing win against the bulldogs. Geelong toyed with Williamstown to record a 34 point win which could have been much bigger the fact they had 14 more scoring shots. Casey beat Port Melbourne by 15 points despite having 10 less scoring shots. If the borough was more accurate they could have had a very good game but bad kicking is bad footy. Coburg served it right up to Richmond and were trailing by less than 2 goals early in the last quarter but got blown away late. Still the improving Coburg who are winless are not too far away from a win.
Round 9 Round 9 NO TIPSTERS PICK SEVEN WINNERS There was no tipsters yet that managed to pick seven winners therefore the weekly jackpot will now rise up to $90 for Round 10. Tipster that picks all winners for the round will collect. If more than one tipster picks all winners then tipster nearest the aggregate score in the televised game on the Saturday will collect. If no tipster picks all winners then the jackpot will go out to $120 for Round 11.
Round 10 ANDREW LANG $90 Round 10 Seven tipster pick 6 winners There were seven tipsters that managed to pick all six winners. Williamstown’s upset win over the high flying tigers put paid to many tipsters aspirations to pick the card. Seagull fan Colin Smith selected 184 for the aggregate score in the Casey v Collingwood clash. Hams picked 165, Ian Gee a very ambitious low score in 85, Parry 167, Rockford another seagull picked 189 with TC 186 points. Andrew Lang with 163 points as the aggregate score pipped Hams by 2 points and Parry by 4. Casey v Collingwood clash was a lowly affair with the aggregate score being 129 points. Langy yet another seagull to snag all winners collects $90. This will be handy for Langy with the upcoming Puffing Billy Footy Day. Round 11 will revert back to $30 for the tipsters that picks all five winners. There are several clubs that have the bye therefore there is only 5 games played.
Round 11 BUTTS $30 There were many tipsters that selected each of the 5 winners for the round. The tipster nearest the aggregate score was Andrew ‘Butts’ Butler who selected 122 points and was only 2 points away from the Port Melbourne v Geelong aggregate score of 124 points. Butts collects $30. Round 12 will revert back to $30 for the tipsters that picks all five winners.
Round 12 No tipster managed to pick all 5 winners. Northern Blues upset win over Collingwood and Essendon away win at Box Hill put most tipsters out. The weekly jackpot will be $60 for Round 13. If more than one tipsters can pick the card the jackpot will be for the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Essendon v Casey game from Craigieburn. If no tipster picks all winners the jackpot will be out to $90 for Round 14.
Round 13 JACKPOT For the third straight week no tipsters picked the card and the jackpot will now go out to $90 for Round 14. Sandringham’s win at Port Melbourne proved elusive for most tipsters. If more than one tipsters can pick the seven winners the jackpot will be for the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the televised Ch7 match, If no tipster picks all seven winners the jackpot will be out to a very handy $120 for Round 15.
Round 14 Round 14 – no winners weekly prize jackpot out to $120
No tipster yet again manage to pick all winners due to Coburg and Sandringham draw. The weekly prize for the fourth consecutive week will jackpot to more than a handy $120. If more than one tipsters can pick the seven winners the jackpot will go to the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the televised Ch7 match between Werribee v Essendon. If no tipster picks all seven winners the jackpot will be out to a record $150 for Round 16.
Round 15 BILLY HECTOR $120 Round 15 FINALLY THERE IS A WINNER There were 4 tipsters that picked 7 winners. After several weeks with no winner the drought has been broken. The four tipsters were first year tipster Geelong fan Richard Nally who picked 128 points as the aggregate score, Williamstown hard core fan Ian Crocker selected 157 points, Timeball another seagull fan 178 points. Billy BULLDOG Hector selected 199 points with his seven winners therefore he was nearest to the aggregate score of 205 points and collects the $120 jackpot. Next week the weekly jackpot will revert back to $30.
Round 16 JACKPOTS AS NO TIPSTER PICKS SEVEN WINNERS There were no tipsters that picked 7 winners for Round 16. The jackpot will be $60 which will be for Round 18. This is due to only 4 games being played in Round 17. Tipsters must make sure that tips are still submitted as they count towards overall tips as well as the aggregate score match for Sandringham v Box Hill will be up for grabs.
Round 17 JACKPOT The jackpot for Round 18 will be $60. There was no jackpot for Round 17 due to only 4 games being played in Round 17.
Round 18 FELICIA HOLLAND $60 JACKPOT WON BY FELICIA HOLLAND There was 7 tipsters that managed to pick all seven winners for Round 18. Billy Hector selected 187 as aggregate score, Bobby Borough 145 points, Felicia Holland 160, George’s kiss of death tips 178, Jeff Kenny 152 points, Paul Amy 185 and Richard Nally 127 points . The aggregate score for the televised game between Coburg v Werribee was 163 points therefore Felicia with 160 points collects $60. Felicia had a rare double as she also won the AFL tips (DVA) weekly work tips jackpot. Great tipping. The weekly jackpot reverts back to $30 for Round 19.
Round 19 JACKPOT Round 19 proved to be a difficult round where there was no tipsters that managed to pick seven winners. Werribee’s win over Box Hill, Williamstown upset win over Richmond as well as North Melbourne upsetting Footscray proved elusive for most tipsters. Jackpot will be up to $60 for Round 20.
Round 20 ALISTAIR HAYES $60 Round 20 was a difficult round for tipsters despite only 6 games played. There were only 5 tipsters that managed to pick the six winners. Mark Ryan picked 122 points as the aggregate score for the Box Hill v Casey clash, Macca selected 147, Con Milonas 74, Alistair Hayes 143 and Adam Moffat 171 points. Alistair Hayes 143 points was nearest to the 137 points (Box Hill 91 Casey 46). Alistair collects $60 for the Round 20 jackpot.
