Possible VFL/NEAFL merger?

This morning on Triple M's Hot Breakfast Eddie McGuire spoke about state league football and what could be next.

one thing brought up was a possible merger between VFL and NEAFL.

my question would be especially for VFL stand alone clubs what the costings would be especially with travel and accomodation etc.

Thoughts?

I agree that travel and associated costs would be a stumbling block,remember vfl players have full time jobs.

Not sure how strong this comp is anyway,I remember going to the G to see Willy play Aspley in one of those Foxtel cup games and they were very weak,Willy played a virtual reserves side and won easily.

If you were going to go down this road may as well join the Sanfl

NEAFL is pretty weak. Some of their clubs lucky to beat the likes of Vermont and the stronger metro clubs.
Far better joining the SANFL but the costs would most likely put that idea out of range.

VFL/SANFL merger all ready ruled out.

most in favour of a Easterh Seaboard type state league

Will Tasmania come into the VFL next year ? If so that would guarantee 8 sides which is Tassie, 5 stand alones, Box Hill and Casey as they have said that they are staying with their allignments.

Two.more sides would make perfect fixturing.

Weather we like it or not the decisions will be made by the AFL in the interests of the AFL clubs.and not VFL clubs;

Thats the big problem of having the biggest league and not a fully independent commision.running our great game!
