The shortened quarters didnt do much for the game I thought. In case theres another outbreak? LOL Another very strange decision by the AFL.
Hopefully Dangerous will listen to Scumo and let us in to watch the footy when it starts - even a shorter game will be better than nothing!
Meanwhile, as of the start of this week, the coaches and players in the VFL Women's have heard nothing on when or if a season will happen, and what teams might be involved.
Williamstown and Hawthorn had begun training a week or so ago, but North Melbourne has recently told their players to go back to their grassroots clubs.
If the VFA starts in August there will be crowds!
Good news Billy. With an August start looks like crowds are in. Looking forward to finally watch a bit of footy.
Normally by August we would be talking about likely finalists or premiers. This year we will be talking about how teams looked in Round 1. LOL
Good to see you back posting BrekkyDJ. It think the VFLW is in a tough position. Being such a relatively new competition without a (relatively) strong supporter base, there has been less outcry about the delay to the start of the competition compared to the larger supporter base that has followed the mens side all their lives. I haven't missed a Port Melbourne season since I started following them when Camberwell folded. So I think for people like me and other die-hards, the lack of mens competition has had a more significant impact to people's lives.
BreakyDJ... Now there's a blast from the past !!
All we need now is Burraburger, Station Hotel, Jasonborough, Bobbyborough & others to come out of their shells & were back to normal.
NorthPort & Mega have done a great job holding the fort together.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Breakydj welcome back. See you at a vfl game this season and will catch up for an ale or two.
A lot of Sandy people have dropped off as well It looks like Blacrocker and myself are the last of the Mohicans!
It will be great to see an actual Sandringham team run out without any input from St Kilda.Late July could be the start hopefully.
I will try to get to as many vfa grounds this year in the shortened season. Willy, box hill, shepley oval, werribee, north port, Frankston and beach road. Since coburgs ground will still be out of bounce plan is to hopefully watch at least one game at the seven venues. This is of course if they are all used which I say they will.
This is fantastic news! Can't wait to get down to Frankston Park.....hopefully the new lighting gets at least one run this year.
Just a comment on the teams topping up lists.....if they're able to recruit quality players from comps like the EFL and NFL they are going to be realistic finals contenders. Be under no illusion that the VFL has the cream of the crop outside of the AFL. Frankston have lost dozens of quality players particularly to the EFL and MPNFL over the past 7 or 8 years.....not to mention those that have gone as bigger VFL clubs plucked at our ailing carcass......not going into THAT bitter history right now though ;)
I was secretly hoping the MPNFL would call their season off. If Frankston got a handful of blokes back we've lost to local clubs we'd have a realistic shot at crawling into the four. For now though, just bloody rapt to think we'll be able to go see a game or two this year :)
