You will beat us Bearsman, not due to not getting the ball in the 50 enough times but mainly because we lack venom in attack. Our delivery in the 50 has been very wasteful and if Port isnt careful then the unthinkable may happen - the clubs 3rd wooden spoon. This is a real possibility if we have a few injuries and could run into some real trouble against quality sides.

Whats happened to Patrick Kerr? Has he been playing?
Season done and dusted for Port.
1 win and 5 losses and I really think that as me tioned above that we could well be wooden spooners if it wasn't for a rebuilding Preston Bullants.
Out midfield has been ok thanks to a few classy performers but we lack a dominating ruck and tall key forwards and defenders. Fletcher Roberts may be an AFL premiership player but he isn't dominating in the position and Patrick Kerr needs to be smashing packs in a marking contest. I really feel that Signorello is our only promising forward at this stage.
It's tough times for a Port supporter that's for sure.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Kerr is playing Bearsman. Not our worst but needs to do more.
Welcome to our world NorthPort, fun isn't it? ;) Seriously though, this is a difficult season. Our boys were blessed by an easy early draw that allowed us to get some momentum. You guys, not so much. In what will ultimately be probably a 13 or 14 game season, it's a massive advantage or disadvantage. I think we should have a pretty tight tussle, and that's something to look forward to.
Southport will be a very serious threat come finals. Could they go all the way this season ? They have had some massive wins. Not sure what their draw is for the rest of the season but the way they are travelling top four looks almost certain especially with a massive percentage. Any home finals you would almost pencil it as a win. Not as yet played footscray, Geelong, casey, Williamstown or werribee. Not sure if they play any of these teams. Who is to say they can't beat them if they do play them.
Patrick Kerr has been playing but had missed the start of the season. I believe his season total is only 5 goals (he missed the 1st 2 games). Against Coburg from about 20 out 45 degree angle after taking a nice mark, he kicked a behind, then 15 minutes later from 25 out only a slight angle the same happens. The expectation was that he would take over from where Jordan Lisle took off but he hasnt managed to live up to those expectations which were high given his AFL experience. This is a position Port has dominated every year for a very long time. Lisle, Rose, Galea, Connors. Similarly another ex AFL player in Fletcher Roberts has done ok but after 50 AFL games was expected to be a stand out. Perhaps that a indicator that their isnt a huge gap between lower AFL players and the VFL ? Who knows.
Im liking Wagner - thats one player who is really putting in and contributing and yould like to see him re sign.
Somebody mentioned that Port hasnt had a easy fixture so far, lets have a look who weve played.
Aspley who sits 3rd last convincingly beat us after leading 61 - 10 quarter time,
Coburg - a improved Coburg but still has a season or two to go to become a competition leader
GWS - who lost by 100 points the week prior to playing us
and Carlton who is ok but far from a title contender.
Ild say that the fixture has been favorable for Port. We cant use the too many injuries line either as their isnt many at the moment.
Looking further down the track at seasons end a real concern is that quality players may leave should moral be down or they envisage greater success at other clubs - must be frustrating for players like Elli Templeton to run his heart out to get 45 possesions and not get the win. I can see a big turnover come end of year, hopefully we can do so whilst retaining our key performers.
The Frankston Oval looked tremendous last Friday night esp the old stand!Looking forward to seeing crowds there again.
