Well said Billy, a mild flu would take the life of about one in 5 thousand, this will take the lives of about 150 in 5,000 - covid being described as a mild flu is putting it mildly - its 150 times deadlier !

I'm disappointed that we are in a lockdown, but that's life (and death).

This season has been all over the shop even without covid-19.

Not sure how the end ladder will look after 19 rounds as some teams will no doubt play more games than others. Looks like a ratio of wins per games played. Not ideal but you have no option. Southport will be in box seat. Should be almost flag favourites. Won 4 games by 100 points plus, have massive percentage and x factor. Will be very hard to beat. Got no problems with sharks playing footscay, Casey or Geelong in finals as reckon they could probably beat all of them.

They couldn't could they ? Finish off the season with uneven games ? They said last week that everybody will play 14 games this season, perhaps after this weekend 13 ?

I always hate to see Port have a tough season but if i had to chose a season to be crap id nominate this Mickey mouse season, a season that promised to have alot of interest but has failed to win over the hearts and minds of the fans - probably mainly due to the stop start season and restrictions imposed. Will be a great comp when we go back to 18 matches with no disruptions and fan restrictions.

Likely to be a while yet Mega. Listening to a WHO professor on 3AW this morning he said we are now in an endemic and stuck with this virus. He reckons the best thing that can happen is that this Delta strain stays as the only way it will go is if a more infectious strain takes over.

Not sure that vaccinations will be the answer to our troubles as some countries with high vaccination rates are still having big troubles. Hopefully the Govt will revert back to finding a Covid normal lifestyle (which seems to have been forgotten about) to live with and manage the virus instead of killing us with a lockdown every 6 weeks.

Hopefully next year will be better for the VFL comp, but not holding my breath.

So much uncertainty so.many unanswered questions.  So many different theories - one being that if enough people get vacinated the virus will be eradicated as it wont be as transmisable and wont have as many people to cling onto, but i feel.many are becoming spooked into avoiding the jab - i got literarure in the mail box saying 300 people in Aus have died after getting the vacine 😷

I was told today by a person in a medical practice that there is a COVID variant now coming out of South America that is even more virulent than the Delta (Indian) variant, God help us, when will this ever end? Does the vaccine protect us from these variants?

Good question Wal, I was just discussing that with someone the other day - do these vaccines protect from all variants or have they mutated so much that the vaccine may only be effective to the variant it was modelled on ? If they offer no protection to the South African variant, how difficult is it to engineer/modify the vaccine to combat different strains and does it then have to go through rigorous testing?

Another question id like to know, if you catch the virus does that mean your immune from all the other versions or is it like the flu where each individual strain can be caught and not being a case of one infection has you covered for all.

Perhaps a Frankston fan can do us a favour and spend their lockdown time wisely by doing their research and give us the answers - in turn the Port fans will forgive you for punishing and humiliating us last week :)
