After a good first quarter Frankston kicked just 6 goals after quarter time and lost to Bendigo Bombers by 23 points at Frankston today.

Frankston dominated the first quarter kicking 4 goals to nil. It could have been better as the Dolphins had 135 possessions in the opening quarter.

Bendigo came out at the start of the 2nd quarter and domianted the Dolphins all over the ground as they added 7 goals to 2 and took the lead by 6 points at half time.

Needing a good start to the 3rd quarter, the Dolphins couldn't get that as Bendigo continued to dominate and Frankston became handball happy and couldn't get the ball up forward. By 3 Quarter Time the Bombers had set up a match winning 25 point lead.

The game came to a stand still in the last quarter as neither team were able to kick goals eventually Frankston won the last quarter 2.3 to 1.7 but Bendigo Bombers ran out comfortable 23 point winners.

Incredibly Frankston had 426 possesions (202 kicks, 224 handballs) for the game. Another disappointment was Marcus Marigliani was reported for Attempting to Trip Jason Cloke in the 1st Quarter.

Best Players for the Dolphins were Neil Winterton, Sam Reddway and Ashley Eames.

Going into the State Game Break Frankston are in 10th place with 2 wins and 4 losses and now have 3 weeks until their next game. The seniors next game is Sunday June 10th at home against the Northern Bullants at 2pm.

Despite kicking 7 goals in the final quarter, The Dolphins lost to Bendigo by 3 points in a thriller. Kelvin Barnes kicked 3 goals and was Frankston's leading goal kicker. Adam Kirkwood, Mitchell Bosward and Byron Barry were best for the Dolphins.

With a 3-3 record and in the 6th place after this weeks State Game bye the reserves will have a rematch with the Bendigo Bombers at Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo on Sunday June 3rd at 11:10am. This game is the curtain raiser to the VFL game between Bendigo Bombers and Coburg Tigers.
