Couple of departures at Frankston. Jack Mentha to Geelong VFL and Mitch Cox to Willy - massive loss for Frankston.
The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce youngsters Cody Henness, Anthony Seaton and Tyson Milne have re-signed for the upcoming 2022 VFL Season.
Also former Port Adelaide and North Melbourne midfielder Ben Jacobs is joining the club as an assistant coach, replacing Chris Mckay who takes on additional responsibilities with AFL affiliate St Kilda.
Geez, we talk about Port pillaging, but Willy haven't done too badly out of Frankston have they? Who can forget the "oh we'll send them back if Frankston get their license back" garbage.....Mitch Cox is a massive loss, but if he'd rather play for those mercenaries then he isn't what we need. Would love to see one or two signings from the MPNFL this year for the Dolphins, a key position or two wouldn't hurt.
why do they leave then? nobody holds a gun to their head. it can't be for money as we all have the same salary cap, maybe the opportunity to play finals football which has eluded Frankston for many years, and if they live that way why would they opt to travel all this way to train and play? Josh Newman came back and he's done OK for you blokes so I wouldn't complain about that
Mitch Cox is now living in the western suburbs, and Jack Mentha is working in Colac, hence the moves..
Frankston announced yesterday Taylin Duman as a new signing. 193 cm defender from Fremantle - exactly what they need.
It's not just us that players leave Wally. Am sure Coburg, Preston and Werribee to a lesser extent share the same frustrations. Until this year it was well known that Frankston were paying below the salary cap because we simply had no money. So yes, undoubtedly money was part of it.....yes, playing for a finals ready club too. Forgive my dislike for all things blue and gold, but in spite of the large number of talented players you have gained from us over the years, they are all still treated like sons when Willy come here to play. Given that I have experienced many times how Willy view us as a club and how our supporters are treated over there, that makes me wanna throw up.
Thanks for the info Bearsman, I knew about Mentha's situation, but not Cox's. Two talented boys I wish we still had. Wish Cox had of picked Werribee or Footscray though ;)
Thought I red that Jacobs had signed back home in SA.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Ex Bomber Trent Mynott to Frankston from Box Hill. Dolphins have re signed most of their top players for next year. Must say their midfield is looking pretty sharp - Freeman, Fordham, Newman, Mynott with Begley and Fletcher helping out. Bring on 2022!
