Congrats goes to the Coburg supporters of this forum - are you still out there ?? On the livestream we looked very sloppy at times and although we looked ok in patches we never really looked anything more than just ok. I know some might say give the side time or it was that type of scrappy wet weather game but im doubtful we are going to improve much more than where we are at as we just about have a full strength side at present, injuries have not set in. Ild say the side is better than last seasons but not by a adequate enough margin to see us do anything special. I was going to call it early and say we are not going to play finals this year but i'll wait and see what happens the next two games, I reckon if we don't win either of our next two games then it will be the 1st time since 2015 that the September action at Northport Oval will not be including Port.

I've just finished watching the game. Well played Coburg, better in the conditions.

I've got a few comments / thoughts, but I'll post them up tomorrow morning.

Agree that finals look unlikely.

Looks like werribee will be the pick of the old vfa sides. The bees can give the flag a real shake. I wouldn't sell port after only 2 games. Reckon Coburg are a decent side and with luck September action could be on their radar. Burgers will be very competitive and I will back them to make the eight. Preston's gallant effort going down narrowly to the dogs away will give the old vfa teams plenty of self belief. Only 2 rounds in so far with lots of footy left.  Going to have some serious fluctuations on a weekly basis.

It was a game where we didn't do enough to win it. Again skill errors and perhaps the style of play let us down.

Hooper, O'Sullivan's, Templeton, Wagner probably the standouts.

I thought the umpiring overall was good, and centre bounces the highlight. But but my count at least 4 Coburg goals came directly from poor umpiring decisions.

Coburg played the conditions better, and kicked big goals from around the 50m arc, while Port continued to bomb the ball in looking for deep entries, but Coburg defended well. We didn't adapt and it cost us. Fletcher Robbberts must have gone off early, because he was hardly sighted after the first quarter.

I should mention that Signorello sas very good, and worked hard up the ground as well.

Next week is huge. A loss and the season is over.

Fletchers ankle may have been playing up again as he was limping on it during the Preston game - if he did come off early the commentators forgot to tell us at home (I realise they don't have a huge team to work with and it is pretty much a skeleton staff coverage). Signorello is such a dynamic player and if he played at his best every week he would be playing AFL - hopefully with the realisation that the hand of time is ticking he puts in a solid and consistent year.

I was watching the Frankston game last night and the link up play looked so much better in that game compared to this one however that may have been partly due to the conditions.

I'ld like to agree with you VFA but i just cant see us doing any major damage - I feel the recruits added to last years 2nd bottom side are not adequate. We did have some good pick ups ie Ciconotta, Hunter etc but I think we needed a few more real top quality players to assemble a competitive side. Having the mandatory 6 player under the age of 22 rule doesn't help and is a knee jerk reaction to getting rid of the development league. Anyway i don't profess to be a footy expert, it was all love of the round ball growing up and i've been wrong in the past so hoping i'm wrong again - nothing would make me happier (well some things would but lets keep this PG rated).

I still think Southport will be one of the serious threats come september.  Won't lose games at home. Reckon they would have won the flag last year but of course season cut short. Looks stronger. Williamstown will need to improve heaps otherwise no finals for the first time in many years.

My early stab on the dark top eight not in order comes season end Southport, Casey, werribee, coburg, box hill look very likely. The other 3 spots absolutely no idea. Footscray who were undefeated last year don't seem as good.

Hey Blackrocker, hope you've been well. I think it's fair to say that many fans have lost confidence in the board, testament to that would be prominent supporters and ex volunteers staying away from the club.

Your second q. - Having only coached two games for points then yes I believe that he would have the presidents confidence still, if it was 0 -6 then that may be a different story.

Now back to watching your side put in a very good performance- common zebras !
