VFL vs. SANFL
Body:
Don't want to keep bringing up the same topics but just a couple of points. We all know the arguments about why some players choose to play in the SANFL rather than the VFL once delisted, retired etc. etc. from an AFL club. Or a young player looking for opportunity. One thing that bothers me is that alot of youngsters coming out of the TAC get offered a spot with a SANFL team thinking that if they stick at it in Victoria their chances of still getting drafted are unlikely. WE need to make it more attractive for youngsters to stick around in the VFL and realise that they are Football Clubs just the same as any other club. I Think the Alignments are slowly killing the VFL, and VFL clubs should have more say than what they do in the running of THEIR club. I commend both Frankston and Port Melbourne as the only two clubs at the moment to realise how it is possible for issues such as these to be at detriment to the clubs and the competition. If a bloke has been delisted from an AFL club, it is Rare that he would want to hang around at the VFL club and get 10 BOGs in a row then watch mates and also maybe not his mates play the next ten in the AFL. Or not being played in the positions he wants because say St. Kilda for example wants to develop a 17 year old int at position. The next 10 years is a critical time for the VFL, it can make a bold statement and maintain its integrity or keep playing second fiddle and slowly perish. Open to comment and Opinions.
