If the ABC are keen and the AFL knock it back, they could only be trying to sabotage the competition.
I think for a competition that's coming up on 150 years, it's imperative that we have easy reach to the general population, without having to access websites and apps to view the games.
Let's see what eventuates. Hopefully there's something. I've always thought it's a good fit for Kayo because there's quite a few games outside of the AFL timeslots.
Absolutely fantastic news if it is true!
Nothing mentioned on the VFL / AFL website.
How good would that be having the ABC back doing games. HUGE 👍
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Nothing confirmed yet

Update on tv rights
Nothing has been signed yet but ABC remain favourites for them, there is another organisation in the mix
Channel 10? Back to the classic it's Sunday for the VFA!

I'm really hoping we hear a genuine update on the broadcast rights for 2026 either by today or next week at the latest.
There was talk one other channel might be vying for the rights as well (I would have guessed Channel 10) but nothing official has come to light.

I believe Foxtel/Kayo is the other possibility. Could even end up with both covering different timeslots. Fingers crossed something eventuates.
That is surprising Paul.. I would have thought that would have been the least likely of the scenarios.
It does provide for a wider exposure which is great.

I'm not a fan of putting it on Kayo. A league that's struggling for viewership shouldn't be locked behind a $30 per month paywall in my opinion.
