Last round epics
Body:
Moved post:
On the subject of do or die last round clashes what are your greratest memories of memorable last round epics ??? There is of course the 1976 relegation battle matches from the 1970s. Two matches spring to mind. Sandy v oakleigh 1976 and Voburg v Preston 1973. In 1985 Williamstown were around 13% plus 4 points behind Port in fifth spot. Come the last round the seagulls had to travel to Geelong West while Coburg played Port at home. Results Willy beat geelong West by around 6 goals while Coburg beat Port on a rainy wet ground by 17 goals. Williamstown snuck into the four aat the expense of Port nd went within 6 points of winning the flag. They lost to Sandringham in the Grand Final 14.16.100 to 13.16.94. Fourteen year old Ronnie James played his first senior game for the seagulls in a Grand Final. Kershaw juggled a mark which was disallowed with minutes to go and Ronnie James got called for running too far which was debateable early in the game. The game was in the balance with the zebras hanging on in a cliffhanger. One of the many great grand finals from the 70/80s
