Frankston have kept their finals hopes alive with a thrilling 2 point win over Werribee at Frankston today.

The Dolphins got off to a great start kicking the 1st 3 goals of the game before the Tigers got on the board. Frankston lead by 16 points at quarter time.

Frankston got off to a good start in the 2nd quarter kicking an early goal then Werribee hit back kicking 5 of the next 6 goals and although Frankston had more of the play the margin was just 1 point to the Dolphins at half time.

As 3rd quarter got underway Frankston again started well but just couldn't put in on the scoreboard with Werribee fighting back late to set up a big last qaurter as the Dolphins went to the last change just 5 points in front.

In a tense final quarter it was goal for goal as everytime Frankston got a goal clear the Tigers would fight back. With the game in the balance Justin Berry kicked a behind but was pushed in the back and as the umpire ruled that the behind had been scored Berry was given another kick from straight in front and he kicked his 6th goal to give the Dolphins an 8 point lead with 4 minutes to go.

Peter Street then goaled for Werribee to get the Tigers within a point with 2 minutes to go. Paul Kennedy then had a shot and missed to make the margin 2 points with a minute remaining. As the clock ticked passed the 30 minute mark the siren sounded and The Dolphins managed to hold on for a thrilling 2 point win to keep their finals hopes alive.

Justin Berry,Marcus Marigliani and Matthew Burns were among the best for the Dolphins.

Now with a 6-9 record and still in 11th place the Dolphins find themseleves just half a game outside the top 8 with 3 games remaining. They take on 7th placed Northern Bullants next Sunday at Preston starting at 2pm in what will be another big game.

Frankston finals hope vanished today after they were outscored 14 goals to 3 after half time to lose to Werribee by 79 points at Frankston.

Kelvin Barnes, Aaron Murray and Mitchell Bosward were among Frankston's best.

The reserves play their 2nd last game for the season next Sunday against Northern Bullants at Preston starting at 11:10am.
