4th spot.
Gents, can anyonegive me the definitive answer as to how many points Werribee have to beat Geelong by to pinch 4th place from Willy. Our website is reporting 9goals but that seems too much given our lead is only 2.93%.Anyone help?

BUT, if Geelong kick 10 goals, Werribee will need to kick 20 to move up. In the event that Geelong only kick 5 goals(30 points) then Werribee can get in with 85 points. If Geelong don't score, Werribee can get in with 50 points. So under no circumstances get Werribee get up with a 9 goal win. Consequently, the aim is for Werribee to restrict Geelong as much as possible, and then score as much as possible. (This is where the eyes roll and I question why I feel the need to state the obvious  ) I wouln't be worrying about such things too much. It will take all they have to just get over Geelong, but not by enough, and then they will be straight out the week after anyway.

Finals for week one looks like Preston v Williamstown Sandy v Geelong Frankston v Coburg Werribee v North Ballarat unless a few upset results occur this week. with two fiinals at Port, the other two look likely to be at Frankston and maybe Cramer Street ?? Any thoughts ?

Dolphin, thanks for the info, most enlightening. Vfa,the Willy website is saying if we finish 4th we'll play preston at Cramer St on the Saturday which leaves Sandy and Geelong probably at Port and either Frankston or Werribee with a home final. Surely they wouldn't give the eighth side[Nth Ballarat] a final?

Dolphin showing an ability which is rare down in Frankston - Maths! I have no objection to Preston hosting a final because it is a super ground, but do the Bullants really attract large crowds? And just because a side finishes top doesn't guarantee a home final as was shown last year. I'd have thought Willy, Frankston, Sandy and Werribee all have better crowds on a regular basis. Is crowd in the VFLs "BEST FIT" criteria?

I think I know what is happening in Week 1. But until it is confirmed I won't reveal.

At a guess Frankston will host a Sunday home final and it sounds as though Preston have one also probably the Saturday. Which means Sandy v Geelong on Saturday at TEAC and Werribee v NBallarat/Coburg on Sunday at TEAC. Hot, warm or cold Robbo?

You are warm but not quite right. I had some discussions with some people about it today. It is being ratified at the President's meeting tonight.
You are warm but not quite right
Ah well we'll find out in due course. I sound like a broken record but I don't think the VFL handle this finals thing well at all. Its bad enough having no set criteria, but once they make the decision they should make it common knowledge for the fans sake. At least they did that last year, as wrong as it was giving Bendigo a home final, it was great they everyone knew six weeks out that it was coming.

[quote:1bc02445ca="footyman"]Is crowd in the VFLs "BEST FIT" criteria?
I would expect that is part of it. Lets not get all hung up about the finals issues. The AFL don't announce their finals venues until after the last H&A game. I would have thought if the VFL make the decision and announce it on the Wednesday or Thursday BEFORE the last round, then they shoudl be applauded rather than criticised.

At least we wont have the Gannon Tassie farce this year!
