How many reserve grades games does a player need to play to have qualified for finals? Two Collingwood boys in Hall and Walker named.
[quote:c0c2d93b66="billythekid"]Of VFA players only ( there were also many ex VFL players mainly in the twilight of their playing days in the VFA and some were also brilliant) Max Papley, Bob Withers,Dennis Oakley,Frank Johnson, Fred Cook,Len Gilder,Ted Henrys,Bruce Harper,Johnny Walker,Gerry Callihan,Brian Waters,Bob Murray Jeff Sarau,Phil Cleary are ..
I seem to recall Jeff playing at the higher level.
Splitting hairs but Sarau, Bob Murray (Sandy) and Max Papley(Moorabbin) went on to be VFL stars they all started in the VFA and all finished their playing days at VFA clubs

Bob Murray left Sandy as a forward,,,became a VFL State Full Back,,,,,and returned to sandy playing as a forward again....remember him kicking 12 goals against someone in his 2nd stint at the Zebras...might have been his last game at Port Melbourne...

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

Bob Murray kicked 10 goals in his last match against Port Melb at Port Melb. Rex Hunt also kicked 10 goals in his last match at Sandy against Preston in a Prelim final.

1981 Prelim Final. Preston kicked 28 goaols to Sandy's 26 goals. Margin was 7 points I think. The zebras trailed by over 11 goals at the start of the third quarter. They hit the front late in the last quarter. Preston just got over the line. Amazing game. I was behind the goals in the old wooden stand. Would love to get a copy of that game. Anyone have a copy of that game out there ?

Walker handy to have the team (played in 2003 premiership), but Hall no good. A bit like Billy Morrison, who Collingwood and Willy played in Willy reserves in his last year.
