FOZ, Channel 0 deleted all this classic stuff. Imagine showing a highlights packages from 1967 with all the goals, bumps, brawls and obviously better crowds. Also looking at footage from some old VFA grounds. The only footage from 1967 that I know is atill around is the Grand Final between Port v Dandy at Punt Road.

Go BOROUGH!

It might not be of any help but in the late 60's or early 70's the VFA was broadcast on Sunday afternoons on Channel Ten in Adelaide for a short time. I can remember teams like Dandenong and Prahran. It's unlikely they've kept any foootage but if you're desperate it may be worth a call. (Remembering that what was Channel Ten then is now Channel Seven, I think.)

Channel 7 and 0 televised it. Peter Bedford and Gary Brice played in this game. Very tough match with Port coach Brian Buckley dragging his players off after receiving a very raw deal from the men in white. Came back on after a few minutes. I was just a shade too young to go but have watched the game on tape a few times and Port did get a raw deal. The highlights show about an hour of footage from the game. Dandenong and Port became great rivals also playin\g in the infamous 1976 Grand Final at the Junction Oval. Bobby- I'll copy as dvd for you by Sunday. One for Jason Borough as well (1967 GF). Will catch you at the ground on Sunday. Port reserves are a real chance on Sunday. Not that many rivals these days- Port v Williamstown Port v Coburg Williamstown v Coburg Williamstown v Sandy Port v Sandy Casey/Springvale v Frankston Frankston v Sandy Preston v Coburg that's about it With the alignments the rivalry would seem to be a lot less than the old days. Williamstown who is likely to link with the dogs will renew the rivalry a bit more in 2009. Only if both Willy and Port were standalone !!!

Also good luck to the contestants in the main game. I hope it is Coburg as they are an old VFA side even if they are allinged to a AFL team (Richmond) Go BOROUGH!

Channel 7 may still have some footage as they used to show this game once in a while. 1968 and 1969 Gfs were also played at Punt Road the back to Junction Oval.

The VFL would be happy if they got over 10,000 in 2007 if they cannot draw over 10,000 for a bandwagon rolling Geelong, especially if they beat Collingwood in the AFL Prelim on Friday night there is something wrong. Coburg will draw Richmond supporters who would be starving of any finals action even though it is Coburg. With good weather anything under 10,000 will be a dismal flop and the VFL will never ever draw a crowd for a GF.
