Eventually you will be able to download on line all newspapers from the old days. Would then be far easier to work out what games were televised oveer the years. I did get a copy of the 1967 games from the city museum library about 10 years ago. Would you believe in 1971 the VFA televised a practice game between Eaglehawk v Preston from Eaglehawk. Those were definately the days.

I think they showed these until around 1973 / 74. I have always had a recollection of watching a televised Dandenong practice game against a country team.

As a kid, i enjoyed the practice matches Williamstown played - Sale, Wangaratta Rovers and Eltham stand out - we went to Eltham via public transport, took us for ever.

How are you Lauschie,

I would love to see footage from the 1961 VFA GF.
Yarraville was far too good for the seagulls in very warm conditions at the Junction oval.
Channel 0 started televising in 1967.
Channel two started with games being televised in 1957.
Not sure about 1961 but if anyone had some fooage it would be the abc on the old reels.
I will contact them and see what they have in their archives. I hve tried in the past but to no avail. I believe athe abc should have something from 1957 to about 1963 stuck in the archives somewhere.
Unfortunaterly channel 0 the clowns taped over and threw out a lot of their old tapes from 1967 onwards and have nothinbg left. The handful of stuff they gave to channel 2. Either collectors, vfa nuts likle myself, club oficiails, old vfa stalwarts, footy mad supporters taping games from 1982 onwards. Any earlier would e doubtfiul as there was not many with the old vrcs, maybe a fewe with beta machines or back further with umatic machines.

Check the link below for a photo from 1961 VFA GF. This is from the Yarraville/Seddon FC. Also some great photos, tickets, cards and history located in the website.
