Welcome to the vflfooty site NFC22.
Please send us a p/m on this site.
I WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT YOU ABOUT THE NORTHCOTE FOOTBALL CLUB'S HISTORY WHICH YOU APPEAR TO HAVE A GREAT KNOWLEDGE OF.
MY INTEREST IS BECAUSE I AM AN EX PLAYER OF 200 GAMES WITH THE CLUB BETWEEN 1970 UNTIL OUR GF YEAR 1982.[/quote]
Would your initials be JR and you wore the number 4 guernsey ?
Send us a personal message in the my messages above.
I have a tape of both the 2nd semi and Grand Finals from 1982 which you would probably already have.
Would love to get a copy of the first VFA game televised in colour between Northcote v Sunshine in 1975 from Westgarth Street Oval. You would think that this would have been kept by the archives as it was the first in colour ??
have sent you a p/m as requested - have not recieved a reply - did you get my message ok?
Hi NFC22. Did get your message and will give you a call tomorrow.
I have heard of you as well with the initals HD.
You would also know a mate of mine who played in my old team Richmond Central's 1989 premiership. He played for Northcote in the mid 70s Peter Jukes. He use to run the Croydon Indoor Cricket Centre in the late 80s and early 90s. He lives in QLD these days.
thanks vfa look forward to talking with you - Jukesy yes a very dependable no nonsense fullback - was shocked when he didnt came back all of a sudden - was probably destined for a long senior career
My Dad played for Oakleigh in the late 60's and was wondering if there was anywhere I could purchase some footage of him playing? If anyone knows then could you please let me know. It would be much appreciated.
What is your dads name ?
Footage from Oakleigh around the late 60s and early 70s would be very obscure. The majority of the channel 0 footage from the late 60s were either deleted or taped over. There could be a remote chance that someone had a 8mm camera.
Video cameras were rare those days. it was even pre Beta days and well before VHS. Umatic format was one of the brands used with the larger Umatic recorders.
Channel 31 did disover some 8mm footage from some of the Port v Willy Grand Finals from the mid 50s. These will be shown next year on the local footy show.
There was also the 1948 VFA final series where the Brighton penguins won their only flag. This footage was shown on channel 31 and it was in colour.
I'll keep an eye out Sammy where I am always on the lookout for any VFA footage and will post it on here if I do disover anything from Oakleigh around the days when your dad played.
I appreciate that- thanks very much
