This Saturday afternoon sees Sandringham take on Bendigo at Trevor Barker Beach Oval in the Grandstand VFL Round 5 Match of the Day.

It has been an up and down start to the season for the Zebras, who go into this match at 2-2. But their record could easily be a lot better, their two losses coming by a total of just 13 points including the one-point loss to Port in Round 2.

It was the Sandringham of old last week as they put cellar-dwellers Box Hill to the sword to win by 88 points. Nick Sautner was back in form with 9 goals, while Ezra Poyas also found some touch to boot 5.

Most pleasing for the Sandy faithful would have been that the majority of the team’s standout performers were VFL-listed players, again demonstrating the club’s lack of reliance on AFL talent.
