Umps.
Great addition to the site onslaught, top job. Well, if anyone has anything to say about umpires/umpiring, or has questions relating to umpiring, ask here! I may not be able to help on everything, but discussions like this help to make the realtionship between players and umpires better, in all grades of football. Regards,

Well I will start the ball rolling.. Throws! Lots of them don't get called anymore, either because the umpires are unsighted, or because with modern football, they are just too quick to make a definite call on. Are umpires told to not call them, unless they are sure it is a throw, because (I thought) any pass that was "suspect" should have been pinged.

Some leagues are very strict, and some let it go, so to speak. It may also be an individual thing.

ok.. maybe excessive calling would slow the game down, which might be seen as a negative aspect. Thanks!
