Borough, Seagulls find the form to challenge premier

REIGNING premier North Ballarat's two greatest challengers, Port Melbourne and Williamstown, gained ascendancy after big wins at their happy hunting grounds yesterday.
With a disappointing away record — just one from three in a last-gasp affair against Casey — Port Melbourne used its home turf to return to form with a 45-point win over Coburg Tigers.
And at Burbank Oval, Williamstown claimed outright second position with a 61-point victory over Geelong.
Port Melbourne coach Gary Ayres said his players were very disappointed in their performance against Collingwood, especially in the last quarter.
"Probably the pleasing thing today was that we played as good when we didn't have the football as when we did have it," Ayres said. "The pressure that we exerted on them to turn the ball over and make mistakes … we put scoreboard pressure on."
