Springvale v Frankston at Shepley Oval

Dolphins Kick away in last term. Frankston booted 7 goals to 2 in the last quarter to turn a 3 goal deficit into a 15 point win. In tricky wind conditions Frankston led by 6 points at quarter time against a determined and desperate Springvale team. Scores Frankston 4.4.28 to Springvale 3.4.22 The second quarter was played in windier and wet conditions. It was basically goal for goal. Alan Murray stood out for the vales while former St Kilda rookie Justin Berry who played with the vales 2 years ago was dominating all over the ground for the dolphins. Scores were level at the long break 7.7.49 apeice. With the aid of a breeze springing up and worth 3 to 4 goals the vales kicked 5 goals to 2 to lead by 3 goals at 3/4time. Alan Murray and Raphael Clarke were busy up forward with Matthew Ferguson marking strongly. Inspired by coach Brett Lovett and veteran Daniel Clarke at the huddle Frankston was confident of overhauling the 3 goal deficit. Frankston started the last quarter strongly including some inspirational goals from Justin Berry who ended up wityh 6 goals and strong marking up forward by bigman Daniel Clarke. Former Borough Ben Phibbs and Andrew Shipp were busy as usual. The highlight of the match was no doubt the performance by Justin Berry who kicked 7 goals which included a candidate of goal of the year. Berry took 5 bounces from the wing to slot home Frankston's fourth goal in the first term. There was also several bbig marks hauled by both teams. Final scores Frankston 16.12.108 to Springvale 14.9.93
