PORT Melbourne’s North Port Oval will finally get its $4.7 million redevelopment.
The plan was first considered in 2008 and since then delays have plagued the project, including tests revealing the playing surface was contaminated.
The final detailed designs were approved at a council meeting this month and Port Phillip Mayor Frank O’Connor said building of the new stand and refurbishment of the Norm Goss Stand would start soon.
Great news for Port Melbourne, however, who knows what competition the club will be playing in next year.
Good to see it's finally approved. I can't wait to see how TEAC Oval looks in 2011.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
The key question will be, what will they name the new pavilion?
Any news on when in October works get underway?

Maybe some thing to commemorate the Bedfords, Peter & his father.
The only father & son to make Port's team of the century.
Is that right ????
