Williamstown ground news and VFL Good Friday football in 2011
Body:

From todays Herald Sun...

The VFL will become the first semi-professional Aussie rules league to play on Good Friday when Western Bulldogs affiliate Williamstown hosts Geelong in Torquay on April 22, 2011.

Williamstown general manager Brendan Curry said the historic match was a prime opportunity to showcase VFL.

"We think we'll draw a tremendous crowd (in Torquay) with all the holiday goers," he said.

"It's going to be exciting for our players to play in front of a big crowd and hopefully it's good weather.

"It's a one-off opportunity for us and we've been lucky enough to get it approved and it's going to happen."

The Seagulls canvassed the idea when looking at venues to play home games next year.

An $8.5 million redevelopment of Williamstown's Burbank Oval starts in two weeks, ruling the venue out of hosting finals games until 2012.

The Seagulls will play games at Whitten Oval and possibly Keilor, Wangaratta and Werribee.
