Body:
I have noticed this season a number of AFL listed players while playing in the VFL have been reported this season but have evaded any suspension.
David Hille (Bendigo), Guy Rigoni (Sandy) have been found guilty but after receiving there penalty they have appealed and both got off. Are our umpires just making up stories or does the AFL clubs have a big influence when it comes to these matters?
In the last quarter of saturdays match between the Bullants and Port Melbourne, David Clarke (Bullants) was running into an open goal but was run down by Ryan McMahon (Port Melb) in a fair but strong tackle which was deemed holding the ball. When on the ground Clarke struck McMahon in the face with a closed fist. The umpire was only metres way and saw this incident. He reported Clarke and gave the Port Melbourne player a 50 metre penalty.
Again when this matter got to the tribunal the AFL player (Clarke) got off.
Earlier in the season Cam Mooney was reported and got a 1 match penalty for abusive language. If this game was not on television I think he would have walked away scott free.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject or recall any incidents that have not been given justice?????
