The last genuine big finals crowds was when the Tassie side pulled a couple of decent crowds in Hobart.

Would that have been when the VFL deprived the Roosters of a home final in preference to cash from Tassie?

Good crowd in Tassie though. 13,000 plus at the game. I think it was a good bonding experience for the Borough to travel down and playin Hobart

One of the best crowds in recent years would be the 1997 Sandy v Frankston GF at North Port Oval.

I couldn't even get a heavy beer that day. No pubs in site as the nearest pub in Wheelers Hill too far away. Poor crowd. They got heaps more in the EFL Grand Finals the day before which concluded with the night GF between East Burwood v Vermont. All up there was over 10,000 throughout the day where there was several Grand Finals including thirds, seconds and firsts in 1st Division plus the 2nd Division GF between Boronia v Blackburn.

2003 prelim at Port was 7000 according to official records. I do recall beer running out early in the 3rd term.

The VFA/VFL crowds were always a bit dodgy!Even the "official" ones.
