You can't judge players in a team that wasn't functioning, particularly young players. Let's just hope they're keen to go around again because all the guys listed above can play the game at VFL level.
Valles can definately play but has lacked consistency.A keeper for next year. Most of the more experienced guys have had reasonable years. Josh Newman would probably be disappointed in his year,he is a huge talent but same as most this year, consistency has been a problem. Standout again has been Cavarra.Another very good year. A couple of the older guys will most likely be playing different roles in the team next year should they stick around.
I wouldn't blow Cavarra up too much, I would suspect the vultures would be circling already.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Digs Im sure they are...wouldnt blame him one bit if he accepted a better offer.
I wouldn't blame him either, he is a fantastic player at this level and could get a gig anywhere. Can only pray we find a way to keep him around.
Ozybeer in regards to the comments about the club having the best crowd and facilities without doubt. What is your average crowd ? Does the club publish the average crowd figure ? What facilities do you have that makes it best in the league without a doubt ?

Agreed Bullants, I'm not sure what to make of the more experienced players either. Hockey is an absolute warrior, Cavarra too, but Tynan and Pongracic are ordinary in an inexperienced side. Even Newman yesterday looked ordinary and I know he's not, he has the talent. I find Pongracic in particular to be over-rated.....wins only a small percentage of one-out contests and I find him to be a "smoke blower" when he is beaten or is chasing. Blokes who give 100% effort weekly are a rare commodity at Frankston right now, and if we aren't getting that from the more experienced players in the group, we have a real culture problem developing.
I reckon you're being a bit hard on those two guys Toey. Tynan has had a reasonable year given he's had a play a role for most of the year that he is not suited to.When they lost Giobbi early in the year it forced them to play Tynan as a defender(usually CHB) as they were a tall player short in defence. He is much better value when he can roam around the wing/half back area.Reads the play well and a good overhead mark. When hes been able to play this role hes been ok. Remember too he's the only Dolphins player that has played at AFL level.
I like Pongo, probably the most highly skilled Dolphin this year. He's had a shocking run with injuries in the last couple of years, and will probably be the next captain when Hockey steps aside. I have noticed he seems to have lost a yard of pace this year but its possible he is still carrying an injury or two. If you watch him run off the ground for his rotations it certainly looks like hes hurting.
I agree that the effort has been lacking a lot of the time but this is a very young team trying to build, and fade outs and horror days will happen.
Sir Jimmy Hird has been sacked. Will he appeal the decision to the high court ??
I was hoping Hird could have gone around a few more weeks so he could cop some more FLOGGINGS. What impact will this have on the bombers VFL team who have been rather good and the complete opposite to the AFL bombers ?
Fitzy to coach Essendon next year !!!
He'd be as good as some of the duds at AFL level now.
Yeah Bearsman, I concede to that....I'm just a very frustrated supporter, wanting to see more bums on seats and a bit of passion for the club, which just doesn't seem to be there at the moment. Hate this talk of the club going under and am maybe getting a little harsh as I desperately want to see something that can be the catalyst for a turnaround of fortunes. Hopefully that begins with the retention of the blokes that can makes steps forward and become better players for us next year. Here's my team for next year, with holes everywhere.....
B: (recruit), (recruit), (recruit)
HB: Buchan, (recruit), Tuddenham
C: Sutton, (recruit), Newman
HF: Wilsen, Gardiner, Pickess
F: Fox, (recruit), Douglas
Foll: (recruit), Hockey, Cavarra
Inter: Post, Wood, Pollard, Cass, Soroczynski
So, we need 4 talls and two medium size defenders, in my reckoning. Any opinions?
Its been a frustrating year for Dolphin supporters. We might only be a small group but we are passionate. Your team certainly highlights the 'holes' which need filling. The Football manager has said they will be chasing 3 or 4 players with AFL of VFL experience. Lets hope they can get some key position players and get this team winning some games.
