Body:
The journey down to Kardinia Park at 9AM was worth the trip, as Port worked hard to win against the cats in a match played in very windy conditions.
The win came at a cost, with Ports big men McIntosh and Hale both going down with serious injuries. Hamish looks to have broken his ankle, while Hale who came on to replace him, was also stretchered off, just 5 minutes later with a suspected broken jaw.
It was rumoured that McIntosh had to be driven back to Melbourne to be treated, as there was problems getting him admitted into Geelong hospitals.
The loss of both talls, was offset with a terrific performance in the ruck by Chad Jones. The game against Sandringham in a fortnight might include one of the talls from the reserves as well as Corey McKernan who is struggling for form at North Melbourne.
Schwarze, Lawrence, Corey Jones, Obst, Jeremy Clayton were all good contributors. Trotter was also working well, and with Obst provide some real drive out of the backline.
Shane Clayton will most likely be dropped back to Ports reserves, as there are several players that deserve a spot in the side above him. Luke Cotchett didnt have a great game either, and may also be dropped.
