Port travelled down to Frankston as the curtain raiser to the Dolphins v Devils game.
In a game played in pretty good conditions overall, a 2-3 goal wind was blowing in off the water.
The first quarter was into the breeze, and Port were trailing 1.7 to 3.4. Some poor kicking into the wind caused some costly turnovers that resulted in Frankston goals.
Ghazi was critical, and Port came out firing in the second quarter, going into the half-time break 7.3 to 3.5. Rudd and Goad were combining well, and Shooter was getting a fair bit of the ball, and kicked 2 goals.
Port went into the 3/4 break 11.7 ti 5.7. McMahon was getting a ton of the ball. Adrian Newman had a great quarter, kicking 3 goals.. 6 in total to 3/4 time.
For the second quarter in the match Port restricted the Dolphins to just 1 point for the quarter running out winners 17.11 to 5.8. Newman kicked another and finished with 7 for the game. Nick Thomas continued his good form, posting 4 majors for the game. Ben Finnin was good as was Ramsay, Cheevers and Spence.
Ryan McMahon had an absolute day out, and his attack on the ball, and use of it was excellent. A certain starter for the big game down at Bendigo.
