Swans break 10 game losing streak
Sydney 12-7(79) def Sandringham 11-10(76)
James Bartholomaeus kicked winning goal with less than a minute left
mid season draftee Jack Buller starred kicking 5.4 for the swans
despite Sandy winning inside 50 count 59-42 the Swans deserved to win
I'm just sitting down to watch the Southport v Port game (knowing the result).
Plenty of push and shove early. The sharks showing plenty of class early around goals.
Well done by the Seagulls and posting a solid win to celebrate Jolley's 300th.
A couple of shock results with the top side Brisbsne dropping a game to Box Hill and bottom of the ladder Sydney notching up their first game of the season.
My tipping game is in tatters 😁
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Both Williamstown and werribee are going great guns with 8 wins and are very well placed. I don't think either have any sides to fear and will proudly fly the flag for the old vfa teams. With half way of the season the ground work is done for a big September for both werribee and Williamstown. Just need the consistency in the second half of the season. No reason why they can't.

* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Shattered after last night
Geeong 10–12(72) def Frankston 11-4(70)
Frankston are playing better than a 3-8 record but unfortunately that’s where they’re at.
16 day break now before hosting Collingwood on July 2
What a view Robbo!
Yeah that's a shattering result. Frankston are certainly a better side than where they currently sit. I wil watch the last quarter today if I get the opportunity.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Absolutely shattering, very similar loss to the one against Carlton. Aside from a pathetic first quarter we were the better side all night.....and it wasn't even a close call. Kudos to James Rendell who decided at quarter time to serve it up to Rhys Stanley. He lost the hitout count maybe 30-23 or something along those lines, but Stanley wasn't nearly as effective and we belted them in centre clearances for 3 quarters as a result. Once again Frankston's attack on the footy and tackling were elite level. Some of the ball movement through the corridor was way too slick for Geelong to handle, but we stuffed it up too often with one bad skill error in the chain. Definitely need to try to find 2 tall defenders and a tall forward for next season.....I honestly believe that's all that would separate this team from finals with another year of development under their belts.
One final comment about Geelong as a venue. I understand they're an AFL venue and as such probably have to enforce a certain level of security. But this was not a fun trip for us. Gates didn't open until 30 minutes before the game, then we were forced to spread em for the wanding, and then were almost denied entry for bringing a sealed bottle of soft drink with us. Bloody ridiculous.
In last 22 games Frankston has played
7 of them decided by 6 points or less (Record 1-6)
And Werribee keep getting it done! Eight in a row I think now. Consistent and find a wake not just to keep themselves in the game, but doing enough and knowing how to win.
Good defensive unit too.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Werribee have a great mix and well balanced team. They are good enough and self belief as they can win even though they are down at three quarter time. Imagine if they still had jake riccardo? He kicked 4 goals last night for gws. They are a genuine flag threat.
Robbo, that stat says so much......two seasons running we have had inexperienced yet very talented lists that just don't quite know how to close out. Werribee on the other hand get it done in the close ones, and look at where they are. Hope they win the lot to be honest.
Add 3 reasonable talls to our list, keep what we have and we're playing finals next year. I'd put my house on it. Keep at it Dolphs!
AJ, I agree about Kardinia Park not being a good venue to attend. Apart from the issues during entry, we're you even allowed on the ground during quarter time breaks? I took my two year old the other week, and she had no option but to run around the concrete concourse. Far from ideal.
Mind you, at the other extreme I am seeing more on and more grounds that appear to have no spectator facilities.
GWS played a game on what looked to be a school oval, with no fences and a soccer field lying just beyond it.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Arden Street was by far the worst we've been to this year, with absolutely zero spectator facilities provided by the club. Luckily the gym next door allowed spectators in to use their toilet, and a food truck rocked up in the small cark park in the forward pocket. Kardinia Park did allow people on the ground during breaks when we were there, and at least had toilets and food/coffee.
As i remarked on here recently, it's grossly unfair to expect part-time footballers who have been on the tools all day to have to travel down to Geelong and take on a team of professional footballers who have had the feet up all day and to get so close
