Werribee will be too good for Geelong. Would love to see Frankston upset another interstate team on the road.  Southport can be a bit hit or miss. Might be a bit tougher as Southport fresh off a bye. Footscray v Brisbane is a toss up. Bulldogs to win just as playing at home. Williamstown will beat box hill. Seagulls are on a roll and are flying.

3:00pm start for Box Hill v Williamstown a mongrel time; purely for TV scheduling.    I don't mind the 3pm start, it is the 6pm finish that is inconvenient.

The fixturing for this week is garbage. Also disappointing that Southport vs Frankston isn't being televised. If we have to play finals interstate then at least give us TV-quality coverage.

Would be awesome to see werribee, Frankston and Williamstown all win on Saturday.

Box hill at $1.27 ?? Seagulls will roll them. Let's hope Williamstown, werribee and Frankston can all have wins today.

Three standalone wins - Willi, Werribee and Southport - fantastic for these clubs but the end of the line for Frankston, but what a fantastic season its been. We were always up against it yesterday, no Murphy, no Williams, and 2 weeks in a row on the road and meeting a really good side on their home ground. No doubt Frankston peaked against the Suns, and the boys struggled to bring that level of play again.

The first quarter was atrocious - easily the worst footy we played all year, and the game was effectively over at the 20 min mark, but they fought it right out and improved during the day. Southport were very, very good and are a definite flag chance.

Frankston dont have to improve much to be a major player next year. We desperately need a couple of key defenders and  a small forward and anything is possible next year.

Southport will beat Geelong next week. Tom Hawkins won't make a scrap of difference. I give Williamstown a great chance of beating Brisbane away next week. Why not ? Brisbane had a tough game against Footscray and can easily see both Brisbane and Geelong out in straight sets. This would set up a werribee v Williamstown preliminary final and Footscray v Southport. That would mean at least one standalone team makes the grand final and possibly two. Southport have been a bit hit or miss but if they bring their best game could easily go all the way. Werribee are definitely the team to beat with Williamstown and Southport dangers. I was at box hill yesterday and the seagulls were very impressive and are playing with full of confidence where the spirit and enthusiasm is sky high. Plenty of Williamstown supporters at box hill yesterday.

A key defender and a tall forward are key for me. Max Williams only just pinched a spot on the list late in the pre-season this year and his form toward the back end of the season has been a bit up and down, so I'm not sure if he'll go around again next year. I'm happy enough with Gown's season but I think we definately need a second tall up there. I'm curious why Justin Davies fell off the radar this year after showing a lot of potential in 2023. If Davies isn't going to get consistent games then we should be looking at another tall forward.

Hopefully we can also get a main ruckman on the ground next year. Angus Grant has done a pretty good job despite having to act as a fill-in ruckman but hopefully we can free him up next year. I'm interested to see if Tom Roberts remains on the list or not. Showed a bit of potential last year but has had some horrible luck with injuries. If he sticks around I hope he stays fit another to get a chance.

And this is assuming we don't lose anyone important in the off-season. Milne and Grey have been awesome for us this year and I'd be shocked if at least one of them wasn't on the draft radar. If either of them go then those are some big shoes to fill. Hopefully all the positive talk about the new culture at Frankston holds true and we don't lose players to local footy or other VFL clubs.

Shattering end to a wonderful year. Mental preparation is everything in finals footy, and Southport were absolutely ready. Their attack on the footy from the first bounce was first class, and our boys were reactionary from the outset. They didn't let up on us until the game was way beyond a contest. It was a bridge too far for our lads to refocus after the crazy events of the week before. To come home after that, spend a couple of days and then head back up - it's a big ask.

Great attendance in the Graham room at Kinetic yesterday, probably triple the crowd of the week before. The club has some great momentum right now with the success of both mens and womens teams this year, and the locals are responding to it. I hope we keep some events going through the off season to build on that. Season 2025 has the potential to be one of the club's biggest ever.

As far as this team goes, what a bunch of warriors they have been. I do believe we need two key defenders, one more mid-sized forward and a small forward, and a ruckman - Angus Grant has been incredible, but that shouldn't be his role. We're not a mile off being up there with the best teams in terms of performance. Our form towards the end of the season was brilliant and with just a handful of additions we're a top four side. To see so many players have already re-signed is brilliant. The future is definitely bright.
