VFL Round 9 GWS v Port Melbourne
Body:

You bloody bewdy!

Port Melbourne travelled up to Albury yesterday and notched up once off the most impoetant winds in recent history.

GWS were sitting on top of the ladder, and the 3 hour each way bus trip would have been a lot of fun on the return leg.

GWS 12.12.84

Port Melbourne 16.14.110

I'm yet to get the chance to see the game in its entirity but it appeared to be played in front of a healthy crowd despite the 11am start time.

For the Borough, Manton had his kicking boors on, finishing with 5 majors, while Farrant returning to the side and Charlie Clarke debut with 2 goals apiece.

Was a decent crowd and a healthy turnout of Port supporters who in Port fashion congregated together.

Good game all round, I think the break did Farrant some good who stepped up to the plate and delivered. Manton excellent and Ports ability in the second half to close down GWS quick transition with some good tackling was for me the key.

Very pleasing to see the problem of wasted deliveries that we saw in the first few games seem to have been ironed out and the side is beginning to move the ball more freely.

The side has shown with its performance v Southport and yesterday that they can match it with anybody, with 10 games remaining it’ll take a good effort to make finals but not at all out of reach. I feel when sides get unexpected wins in any sport they risk over confidence and complacency, this is definitely no time for that as it’ll probably take 7 wins in 10 games to make finals, a fair effort but doable especially with what appears to be a side that is coming together well.

I got the chance to watch the game in its entirety.  Really encouraging signs.

A draw against Southport and a win against GWS shows that our best footy can more than match it with the ladder leaders.

Clarke played a very solid debut game, and if not for some errant kicking would have had a huge impact.
