What a bloody magnificent effort Frankston! I'm at work, but saw the last couple of minutes. That must create some very very strong belief in the playing group.

A very good round of footy from the standalones! Both teams play next week and join Werribee in the first week of a (now) final 8 system.

Having half the sides in the finals being stand alones throws the it's too hard to compete v the full time afl excuse out the window.

It was never too hard to compete with the AFL sides, the track record of standalones over a long period has shown that. What brought that thinking back into vogue was the combo of two years of COVID disruptions to standalones where the AFL clubs kept operating, at the same time as the brutal cut in the salary cap.

Now it's back to business as usual most of the standalones are back to being very competitive, and the Tigers have made a big statement the past two seasons, hopefully they can get to the GF again and (if not playing Frankston!) get themselves a flag.

It was Saadi Ghazi who started "too hard against the AFL clubs" after he departed as coach of Port Melbourne
