VFA jumpers wanted!

Re-posted on behalf of buyer...

I am a private collector and am trying to obtain original VFA Football Jumpers. I am desperately trying to obtain Box Hill, Oakleigh and Geelong West and was hoping somebody might have one or know somebody I could buy from. My contact details are -

Very late reply but nevertheless if the buyer is still interested in getting those shirts he could get them made by CGR sportswear. All they will need is a picture of the top and before printing they will send through images of the item whereby feedback and alterations can be made. I've used them to get a couple of replica old National Soccer League Heidelberg tops and found them to be great quality, affordable and a result which is as close to the original that you can get. Also have a couple of friends that use them and they are very happy with them (they showed me one of their recently made tops last night- very nice).

On a seperate note VFA i know that i said that I would ask one of my customers for the 1972 Geelong West Grand Final for you. I've seen him 3 times this week and unfortunatley he does not have a copy and pretty much said that probably the only place that you would be able to get it was from the station themselves (if your lucky).

He recalled a story from the 70's. He remembered a time at Geelong west when the fans gathered around the temporary wooden platform that Phill Gibbs and crew were on commentating and filming. After a few drinks they started shacking the stand and it was wobbling all over the place. Fearing falling and loss of limb they called the police over who had to stand around the platform until the game finished. Everybody stayed up there fearing the unrully crowd until finally a car came to the platform and when the staff descended they went straight into the car to be driven away - but not before copping a heap of abuse from the by now very rowdy Geelong West fans and also having projectiles hurled at them. Sounds like the Geelong West fans and the VFA was very boisterous in its day.
