Macri Signs with Gulls
Body:
Christin Macri Height: 189cm Weight: 92kg D.O.B: 28/08/74 Christin Macri is the latest big name signing as the Williamstown Football Club rebuilds its playing stocks for the 2005 season. Macri was recruited to the Western Bulldogs in the 1998 National draft at pick number 73. He was a mature aged debutant, playing his first game of AFL in 1999 as a 25 year old. In total Macri went on to play 5 games of AFL football. In 2000 Macri played for the Seagulls during the Western Bulldogs split alignment with both Williamstown and Werribee. In that season Macri played 2 games of AFL football with the Bulldogs and 19 games of VFL football with the Seagulls and finished second in the Seagulls Best and Fairest with 104 votes, one vote behind winner Brad Lloyd. Macri’s 104 votes would have won him the Best and Fairest in every count since. Macri was delisted from the Bulldogs at the end of the 2000 season and he headed north to play country football. Macri played with East Wagga in 2001, was playing Assistant Coach of the Wodonga Raiders in 2002 and Captain-Coach of the Raiders in 2003 and 2004. It was during his stint with the Seagulls in 2000 that Macri’s football prowess on the field, as well as his demeanour off the field impressed the Williamstown faithful. His signing, in conjunction with that of Rayden Tallis will add valuable experience to a young list of Seagull’s and Seapies and his coaching experience will add valuable knowledge to our Coaching ranks. It will be good to see Macri pull on the Blue and Gold once again.
