Hello from Tassie
Hi, I stumbled across this place and it seems like good forum. I have been Devils fan since there inception to the league and attend most matches at Bellerive. Glad that AFLTas has at last decided to end there alignment with the Kangaroos, because the team has only gone backwards since and I look forward to seeing them playing with pride again which has been lost lately. GO DEVILS!

I'm sure they can manage both together, but they've gotta get the mix right.

I have heard that the the AFL Tasmania board are not completely supportive of the Devils. For example, I heard that when my club (Werribee) played them down there a few years ago the AFL Tasmania President etc wasn't even there.

AFL Tas are the main ones pushing the Devils concept. Some officials in the local leagues are not so supportive
bcarbonaro
Is the reason why they are not supportive is because the talented player are being taken away to play for the Devils?

Pretty much. Some teams wont sign players unless players agree that they wont try out for the Devils. So you tend to see the Devils players mainly come from only 3-4 local clubs

It will take time to grow, the Kangaroos alignment threw a hurdle in the way, but i'm glad the Devils came back and a keen to make up for lost time, would have been too easy to give up on the concept. Well done!

The same sort of issue and attitudes have been discussed when the Bendigo Bombers reserve grade side was created, a lot of people said all the talented juniors from the region were being swallowed up by the VFL club. They said that this would therefore devalue the standard of the local leagues. Same thing has also been raised whenever the idea of Geelong fielding a reserve grade side has been suggested.
