Pies to 'go home' in 2010.

Apparently, last night, Yarra Council voted in favour (7-2) to have Collingwood return home to play VFL games at Victoria Park for the next three years.

No other details available at this stage.

I think this will be a really positive move for the VFL. I can't see it being like games at Geelong where nobody attends, in fact I think they will get good attendances. Hopefully their first game back at Vic Park next season involves a popular team and you could easily see them have 5,000 people rock up for the game.

The biggest problem around Vic Park is the car parking, but if they can get that organised then it'll work a treat. The train station is next door anyway, so do as they do with Preston and recommend public transport and all will be good.

I got a couple of text messages from mates last night who neither support Collingwood or usually take an interest in the VFL. Both expressed their interest in heading to a game at Victoria Park next season.

Promoting use of the old VFL/AFL venues (Victoria Park, Windy Hill, Western Oval etc) could be something that results in an upsurge of interest in the competition.

Well I guess Whitten Oval is a possiblity in 2010 for the Seagulls with Burbank Oval being redeveloped.

In 2010 we could quite possibly have Collingwood at Vic Park, Essendon at Windy Hill, the Bullants at Visy Park and Williamstown at Whitten Oval. Wouldn't that be a blast from the past seeing footy at this grounds on a regular basis!!!!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a near certainty that the Seagulls will be at Footscray next year while Burbank is redeveloped?

Not sure, there was an article last week (cant recall source, perhaps IF) where the Seagulls were saying they'd consider approaching Port Melb to play some home games at TEAC Oval.

Gee, I bet that move would go down well with the Towners' fans.

I can see Saults welcoming Trevor Monti and all the Willy supporters at the gate with pooper scoopers. Beautiful.

My god.. Williamstown playing home games at Port?? How times have changed.

We've gone from poking skewers through a Gerry Callahan inspired pigs head as the players run down the race, to opening them with welcome arms?? Incredible.

At the very least, make damned sure the Hot water system is turned off down at TEAC Oval.

Back on topic - Collingwood playing out of Collingwood is a good move. Far more of their supporters are likely to show their kids where they used to stand at Vic Park, than take them to enemy territory in Carlton.
