Thats just for starters that have been confirmed through paper reports im tipping Frankston to finish bottom and become the Bendigo Bombers of the comp in 2010 and until the commitee change there attitude or sack themselves they wont win a game for 2 years.Good move shannon grant jumping off a sinking ship no one could coach a team thats commitee have publically stated that winning games is not a priority for the next 2 years because they want to buy there pokie machines so they wont be buying any players.Next year will be a joke and 20 goal thumpings each week arnt out of the question.

That's some serious talent leaving Frankston.

If some of those good players go to Port... we'll be in for a crack at the flag again :D

Some of those guys come as no surprise - Limbach for example who is a Northern Suburbs boy and was struggling to get a game in their seniors.

But Marcus Marigliani jumping to a rival VFL club if he's not drafted smells quite fishy and indicates a degree of dissatisfaction, and an important player like James Magner not staying around indicates similar.

Sad to see Frankston decline so quickly. Wouldn't want to go potting their board or committee too much though frankstonboy, they aren't real receptive to it I'm told.

Don't forget Port will need plenty money to pay them, not forgetting they themselves will require lots of cash to pay for their own poker machines.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Limbach- no great loss as he struggled bigtime last season.
Justin Berry was always bound to finish off at Cranny his old club. Been a good player with still a couple of season left. Barry, Magner and Dore are all ok as players.
Paul Kennedy struggled with injury and was great in 2008. Maybe a season or two left in vfl ranks. Could do well with Port.
Winterton, Morris and Murray are decent losses.
Marigliani I suspect will be drafted.
Pollard is one of the best full backs and I will be very surprised if he left.
We will see who has left and who the dolphins will pick up. I would not jump into the committee as they work their butts off. Also if the finances are on thin grounds why splurge the cash for players.
The players that play for the dolphins will be competitive under Goosey. Should be a very young side with a few new faces from the Peninsuila clubs. Might not have the experience but hopefully the goose will get them to have a crack week in week out.
I will watch a few games on the hill next season and cheer them on rain hail or shine even if the odds are against them. Support the underdog Frankstonboy and don't give up on them !!!

Also don't forget there is a salary cap they would all have to fit into. What is the cap these days?

I kept reading on these forums that the problem was Shannon Grant.

Well, Grants gone, and it appears that 1/2 the senior side are walking as well.

They are all very good senior players, and most of them would get a game in any VFL side.

The two real notable are the Captain and the Presidents son.

Yep, must be Grants fault.

People, please remember that Frankstonboy is a disgruntled fan intent on making the club look bad.

I can tell you that three of those are definitely incorrect, and another two are most likely incorrect. Now that a new coach is on board and making contact with players, they can see things will be different from this year and most will stay.

A sad farwell to two fantastic old-timers in Winterton and Berry though - great servants of the club. And very sad to see Byron Barry leave for local footy. He probably would have been the next captain - he still may be once he sees the light!

paul

BTW - those of note who are leaving at this stage are:

Berry (retired - Cranbourne), Winterton (retired - Mulgrave), Marigliani (interstate? Port?), Murray (Frankston Bombers), Barry (Frankston YCW), Conroy (has moved interstate for study), Dore (undecided).

Some good talent, but given how huge the underperformance was this year, and that the necessary change has been made, no reason why the Dolphins wont be competitive again.

Dolphin

I agree with some of that Paul.

It is important to remember that every year a number of players will head away from the VFL. Especially given that every one of those players would pick up at least $1,000 cash a game at local level, with only half the work.

Its just unfortunate that for Frankston this year will probably see more than most years.

As for being competitive, well, at least where there is life there is hope. And that is a very good thing.

paul

Agreed.
